AI in RE Tools at Requirements Engineering 2025 Meeting
SWPM is excited that Andreas Birk’s presentation on AI in requirements tools has been accepted for the Requirements Engineering 2025 meeting (RE 2025) of the Requirements Engineering Special Interest Group (SIG) of the German Computer Society (GI e.V.), which will take place on 28 November in Munich.
The presentation is titled AI Support in Requirements Tools (in German: KI-Unterstützung in Requirements-Tools). Andreas Birk will present the state of practice and discuss what commercial RE tool vendors are offering currently. The session will provide practitioners with guidance on how to proceed with using AI support for requirements activities in their commercial projects.
The annual RE SIG meeting is always an inspiring event. Experienced practitioners from industry and leading applied researchers come together to discuss the latest trends in an open and engaging setting. AI Support in Requirements Tools
AI assistants are ubiquitous. Also for requirements engineering (RE), there are a number of suggestions and examples on how AI support can be used beneficially. However, a number of prerequisites must be met for the everyday use of AI services in business. These range from selection and financing issues to training, acceptance, data protection, and IT security.
One indicator of the practical maturity of AI support in RE is the level of AI functionality available in commercial requirements tools. The presentation will outline the current state of affairs in this area, among other things. In particular, it will address the following questions:
- What AI tool support is typically available to RE practitioners in a business environment?
- Which integrated AI functions do established RE tools currently offer?
- How does AI support for RE stand in comparison to related areas such as project management and testing?
Participants will receive guidance and suggestions for using AI in RE. They will also have the opportunity to discuss their experiences and share recommendations on best practice.
KI-Unterstützung in Requirements-Tools
KI-Assistenten sind allgegenwärtig. Auch für das Requirements-Engineering (RE) gibt es eine Vielzahl von Vorschlägen und Beispielen dafür, wie es KI-Unterstützung nutzbringend einsetzen kann. Doch für den alltäglichen Einsatz von KI-Services in der Unternehmenspraxis müssen einige Voraussetzungen erfüllt sein, von Auswahl-, Finanzierungs- und Beschaffungsfragen über Schulung und Akzeptanz bis hin zu Datenschutz und IT-Sicherheit.
Ein Indikator für die Praxisreife von KI-Unterstützung im RE ist das Niveau, mit dem kommerzielle Tools über KI-Funktionen verfügen. Der Vortrag stellt unter anderem für diesen Bereich den aktuellen Stand vor. Insbesondere behandelt er die folgenden Fragen:
- Welche KI-Tool-Unterstützung steht RE-Praktikern im Unternehmensumfeld typischerweise zur Verfügung?
- Welche integrierten KI-Funktionen bieten insbesondere die etablierten RE-Tools aktuell an?
- Wo steht die KI-Unterstützung für das RE im Vergleich zu verwandten Bereichen wie Projektmanagement und Testen?
Die Teilnehmenden erhalten konkrete Anhaltspunkte und Anregungen für den KI-Einsatz im RE. In der Diskussion können sie sich über Erfahrungen und Best-Practice-Empfehlungen austauschen.
